For immediate release – Alpha Kappa Lambda Education Foundation, the fundraising arm of Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity, announces plans to raise $3 million by July 2018 through the Bold Brothers Inspiring Excellence Campaign.
Launched at AKL Conclave 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada, this capital campaign, a first for AKL, is the solution and plan to educate and invest in young men of character who are committed to making a difference in their communities by learning, embracing and exemplifying AKL character by supporting three main priorities.
Priority number one is to expand and endow an academic scholarship program. Through this campaign, donors have the opportunity to establish general and chapter-specific scholarships to support and educate students through academic and need-based scholarships.
The second priority is to instill AKL values and fortify and strengthen the young men in every chapter across the United States. Through this campaign, AKL will establish a minimum endowment of $25,000 for every chapter to award additional scholarships, pay for students to attend qualified leadership programs and fund various other educational expenses.
Finally, the Bold Brothers Inspiring Excellence Campaign will raise unrestricted funds to be used where the need is greatest and to adjust to whatever challenges AKL will face in the future. This will allow AKL to remain at the forefront of future developments in higher education and provide the opportunity to be proactive instead of reactive; ensuring undergraduate members are offered a relevant, progressive and beneficial fraternal experience.
“We have an ambitious goal to raise $3 million,” said Brother Bill West, Iota 1970, and President of the Alpha Kappa Lambda Education Foundation. “This is the largest fundraising effort AKL has ever undertaken, and we are off to a great start with over $700,000 raised.”
“It is our responsibility to develop men committed to character and we can do this through the Bold Brothers Inspiring Excellence Campaign. We are more than a fraternity – we are the future,” added Brother Bryant Gatrell, Gamma Alpha 1991, co-chairman of the campaign.
