Risk Management is a large part of the Fraternity experience. Alpha Kappa Lambda wants its members to be as safe as possible. It also believes our members MUST be good citizens and therefore their activities should reflect this. Every chapter must have a Risk Management Chair that is responsible for oversight of risk management. Every member receives annual training in this area as well.
New members receive a copy of our policy and the MAPP Program brochure when they receive their Truth and Words. Prior to initiation all new members are required to complete an online risk management training program call GreeklifeEdu. This program, provided by a generous grant fromt he AKL Education Foundation, is the leading alcohol and risk managment training program available to fraternity men across the country.
Risk Management Policy of the Fraternity - This is the general policy that Alpha Kappa Lambda has adopted for its members and chapter. It is taken from FIPG which Alpha Kappa Lambda is a member of. The FIPG Manual is much more detailed and can be a good resource in understanding risk management.
Our liability insurance policy is purchased through FRMT, Ltd. You can gain more information about this policy by reviewing the FRMT Insurance Manual which is available upon request. Our general certificate of insurance is also a good resource for members and chapters.
Our Membership Accident Protection Program is intended to compliment the health insurance program of every undergraduate member of the fraternity for injuries as a result of an accident. The premium for this program is paid by the fraternity.
Alpha Kappa Lambda operates its housing as Alcohol-Free unless a chapter has qualified for a waiver. This wavier is provided to chapters that:
