National Membership Entry Fee

The National Membership Entry Fee is a one-time payment required to join the Fraternity of Alpha Kappa Lambda. This fee, along with the National Membership Dues, must be paid in full within 30 days of joining. Full payment before the Initiation Ceremony is mandatory. While new members are individually responsible for their balances, the chapter is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the Membership Entry Fee and National Membership Dues are fully paid. If a new member withdraws or is removed from the roster without settling their balance, the chapter remains liable for the outstanding amount. Adjustments can only be made if they notify the National Headquarters within 72 hours of this change.

National Membership Dues

National Membership Dues are billed twice annually—in August and January—and must be collected from every active member on the chapter roster. Along with Insurance, these dues must be paid within 30 days of billing to maintain the chapter’s good standing.

Insurance

Insurance is billed twice annually—in August and January—and must be collected from every active member on the chapter roster. Along with National Membership Dues, Insurance must be paid within 30 days of billing to maintain the chapter’s good standing.

Educational Programming Fee

The Educational Programming Fee is billed once annually in January and collected from every active member on the chapter roster. This fee helps support the delivery of online education programs and offsets the costs of programming at national events. It must be paid in full, along with National Membership Dues and Insurance, within 30 days of billing.

Chapter/Local Dues

Chapters are required to collect local dues from members to support the funding of chapter-specific events, activities, and operational expenses. These dues help cover costs such as social events, community service projects, recruitment activities, chapter supplies, and other local initiatives that enhance the member experience. To ensure proper financial management and transparency, all chapter/local dues must be billed and collected exclusively through OmegaFi. Accepting payments via cash or third-party apps is prohibited, as it complicates record-keeping and increases the risk of mismanagement or loss of funds.

Accounting/OmegaFi Fee

Chapters must include the Accounting/OmegaFi fee in their budget planning. This fee, collected from every member, covers the cost of OmegaFi’s financial management services. All payments for this fee must be processed through OmegaFi to ensure accurate tracking and record-keeping.

National Dues, Fees & Insurance – Financial Warning & Financial Suspension

To ensure financial responsibility and timely payment of National Dues, Fees, and Insurance, Alpha Kappa Lambda has established a three-tiered system for managing past-due chapter accounts: Financial Warning, Financial Suspension 1, and Financial Suspension 2.

Financial Warning

A chapter will receive a Financial Warning if it maintains a past-due balance more than 30 days after initial billing.

  • The chapter may continue to operate as normal and host all scheduled events.

  • This warning serves as an official notice of delinquency and is intended to prompt action to resolve the outstanding balance.

  • Chapter volunteers and advisors will be informed of the warning status by the National Headquarters.

Financial Suspension 1

If the balance remains unpaid 14 days after receiving a Financial Warning, the chapter will be placed on Financial Suspension 1.

  • The chapter may still operate normally and host all planned activities.

  • National Headquarters staff will review the chapter’s OmegaFi Vault account, communicate directly with members who have outstanding balances, and request available funds be transferred from the chapter’s bank account as needed.

  • Chapter advisors, volunteers, and the university’s Greek Life Office will be notified of this updated status

Financial Suspension 2

If the balance remains unpaid 30 days after the Financial Warning (and 14 days after Financial Suspension 1), the chapter will be placed on Financial Suspension 2. At this stage, chapter operations are restricted. The chapter may only; hold weekly business meetings, conduct recruitment activities, and take action to resolve outstanding debt.

  • All other activities—such as intramurals, social events, mixers, Homecoming, and Greek Week—are suspended.

  • National staff will continue to monitor the chapter’s financial activity, communicate with delinquent members, and may transfer available funds from chapter accounts to cover past-due balances.

  • Members (active and inactive) with unresolved accounts may be referred to collections.

  • Chapter advisors, volunteers, the university’s Greek Life Office, and leaders from other fraternities and sororities on campus will be notified of the chapter’s Financial Suspension 2 status.

National Dues, Fees & Insurance – Billing Adjustments and Removal from Roster

No billing adjustments will be made after 30 days from the billing date. If the chapter roster was not accurately updated in OmegaFi or if the National Headquarters was not notified in writing of requested changes before billing, the chapter remains responsible for the full billed amount. Additionally, if a member fails to inform the chapter of their return or departure, the individual will be held responsible for any resulting charges. There are three ways a member can be removed from the roster:

  1. Voluntary Withdrawal Before Initiation:
If a member decides to quit or leave the organization before initiation, they remain responsible for all billed costs if 30 days have passed since billing.

  2. Graduation or Temporary Departure from the Institution:
Members who graduate or temporarily leave the institution may be granted special statuses such as Abroad, Intern, Student Teaching, or Military, which exclude them from National Dues, Fees, and Insurance billing. The National Headquarters must be informed before billing to apply these statuses. Members are responsible for all billed costs incurred before their graduation or departure.

  3. Expulsion (Chapter or Voluntary) After Initiation:
If a member is expelled by the chapter or chooses to quit after Initiation, they forfeit all membership rights and privileges and will no longer be recognized as a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda. The expelled member remains responsible for all billed costs up to the point of expulsion or quitting.
