Standards for Policy Enforcement with Members
Recognizing that members are required to adhere to rules and policies outlined across multiple documents and governing bodies, the Standards for Policy Enforcement with Members serve to address the majority of potential violations and establish the minimum disciplinary actions expected from a chapter. The chapter’s judicial board is responsible for applying these standards consistently in its proceedings.
- Academics: A member who fails to meet Fraternity academic standards for two (2) consecutive semesters will be suspended. A collegiate member failing to meet standards for three (3) consecutive semesters will be expelled.
-
Alcohol: Any violation of the alcohol policy will result in consequences based on the severity of the offense. A second violation will, at minimum, lead to automatic suspension. A third violation will result in expulsion.
-
Assault: Any violation will result in immediate suspension. A second violation will result in expulsion.
-
Financial: Members who are past due lose their voice and vote at the chapter automatically. Members who are more than thirty (30) days past due are suspended until their debt is paid. Members more than thirty (30) days past due on house rent will receive an eviction notice unless a payment plan is established and adhered to. Members who are ninety (90) days past due will be expelled unless a payment plan is established and followed.
-
Hazing: Any violation of the hazing policy will result in consequences based on the severity of the offense. A second violation will result in expulsion.
-
Sexual Abuse: Any violation of the sexual abuse policy will result in consequences based on the severity of the offense. When an assault is alleged, the member will be suspended from the chapter until the allegations are resolved. A member found guilty of assault by the legal system will be expelled from the Fraternity.
- Willful Negligence: A member who willfully violates policy after being specifically directed not to do so in a particular situation will be expelled.
